Say hello to the EOS RP! The entry-level full-frame mirrorless shooter from Canon is a compact version of its predecessor, the EOS R camera.

Weighing in at 17.29 ounces, EOS RP feels lighter than a 500ml bottle of water. It packs a 26.2-megapixel sensor, slightly less compared to the 30.3-megapixel sensor of the R.

The new camera features Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus (AF) with 4,779 manually selectable AF pointsii. With f/1.2 lenses, the camera boasts AF sensitivity in low light in as little as Exposure Value (EV) -5. When using the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens with the EOS RP, the camera can focus in as little as 0.05 seconds with Dual Pixel CMOS AFiii.

When using eye detection AF, the camera can automatically detect faces and focus on the eye of the subject. This feature is supported when the camera is set in either servo AF mode during continuous shooting and movie servo AF, as well as one-shot AF.

In another development, Canon said that it is developing six new RF-series lenses. According to the company, each new lens will help fulfill the needs of amateur and advanced amateurs to professional photographers and videographers, covering critical focal lengths.

The six new RF lenses under development include: RF 85mm F1.2 L USM, RF 85mm F1.2 L USM DS, RF 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM, RF 15-35mm F2.8 L IS USM, RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM and RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM. All these lenses should be available later this year.
