Are Developers Moving Away from Engineering Disciplines?

Dirk Hohndel, Chief Open Source Officer & VP at VMware talks about a disturbing pattern he is witnessing in the cloud-native space. He says that cloud-native developers seem to be moving away from an engineering discipline (where developers have a very deep technical understanding of the code flow of their application) to something that feels much more like a trade where developers simply follow patterns. It’s a clip from our longer interview with Hohndel that you can watch on TFiR. The interview was recorded at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon, Barcelona.
