As the industry calls for more computing power, Chinese tech giant Huawei reveals its plans to build an open ecosystem for computing with investment worth $1.5 billion. The investment, part of Huawei Developer Program, is aimed at cultivating more third-party software and hardware developers to help the company grow its open-source computing platform.

To give you a bit of context, Huawei introduced its Developer Program back in 2015. Since then, the company is said to have empowered more than 1.3 million developers and 14,000 ISVs around the world.

Moving forward, Huawei aims to expand the program to 5 million developers. It will focus on enabling its partners around the world to develop the next generation of intelligent applications and solutions, Huawei Deputy Chairman Ken Hu said at Huawei Connect 2019.
