The White House has announced President Joe Biden’s $5.8 trillion budget plan for fiscal year 2023, including approx. $10.9 billion for civilian cybersecurity-related activities.

The 2023 budget invests in cybersecurity programs to protect the Nation from malicious cyber actors and cyber campaigns. Last year, the President signed Executive Order 14028, “Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity,” charting a new course to improve the Nation’s cybersecurity.

Executive Order 14028 prioritizes protecting and modernizing Federal Government systems and data, improving information-sharing between the U.S. Government and the private sector, enhancing standards for secure software development, improving detection of cyber threats and vulnerabilities on Federal systems, and strengthening the United States’ ability to respond to incidents when they occur.

The 2023 budget proposes to reduce the federal deficit by more than $1.3 trillion this year, cutting in half the deficit from the last year of the previous Administration.
