Tidelift recently announced a survey to gauge the increase in the usage of open source technologies. The survey brought forth many interesting findings including the fact that there is always an increase in the adoption of open source technologies during financial crises. That’s the time when companies are no longer in their comfort zone and are pressed to cut costs while staying competitive and innovative to emerge a survivor out of the recession. That’s when they start to lean towards open source. There are many more interesting findings that help us understand the growth of open source. I loved the whole conversation with Chris Grams, Head of Marketing- Tidelift, around the work Tidelift is doing to create a model for open source developers so they can continue to work on the projects they are passionate about without having to worry about a separate day job… I hope you will enjoy the discussion too!
