Doctor Who’s TARDIS gets VR mode


Does the very idea of traveling through space and time fascinate you? BBC will soon provide you with a chance to space/time travel for a full 12 minutes, with an animated VR called Doctor Who: The Runaway.

The BBC VR Hub is working on the new animated virtual reality with Passion Animation Studios. Featuring Jodie Whittaker (the current Doctor), the short will put “fans at the heart of the story as they immerse themselves in this beautifully animated world.”

The special will let viewers to step into the Tardis and tag along with the Doctor as she travels around facing a deadly threat.

The short is written by Victoria Asare-Archer. Series 11 composer Segun Akinola is writing new music for Doctor Who: The Runaway as well.

Directed by Mathias Chelebourg, the special is likely to land on selected VR headsets “in the coming months.”

Further details should filter through soon as the VR is expected to be released later this year.
