DoorDash Buys Salad-Making Robot Startup Chowbotics

DoorDash has acquired Chowbotics, the creator of the Fresh Food Robot, for an undisclosed sum. As part of the acquisition, Chowbotics will operate independently within DoorDash.

Chowbotics has built and commercialized a product that provides made-to-order fresh meals at the touch of a button. Chowbotics has deployed its product to hundreds of locations, including universities, hospitals, and grocery stores.

“As the leader in food delivery and on-demand logistics, DoorDash is uniquely positioned to further accelerate Chowbotics’ market presence and new product development. At the same time, Chowbotics’ technology will enable DoorDash merchants to expand their menu offerings to reach new customers or markets without the need to invest in new stores,” Chowbotics CEO Rick Wilmer said in a statement.
