Istio Is Becoming The ‘Kubernetes’ of Service Mesh | Lin Sun

Lin Sun recently joined from IBM, where she focussed on Istio. When asked what attracted her towards, a fairly new startup, Sun said, “I’m always impressed with as a company as how fast they innovate. And they build those interesting solutions. On top of open source projects like Istio and Envoy, I would say is really in the space of connecting services and API gateways to help our users transition from monolithic to microservices.”

This episode covered the recently held IstioCon, the inaugural community conference for the industry’s most popular service mesh. We also talked about how Istio is playing an important role in Edge and 5G use-cases, how it’s becoming the ‘Kubernetes’ of service mesh and also about the upcoming SoloCon.
