JAIC Aims To Be DoD’s AI Transformation Hub

The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) is entering JAIC 2.0, aiming to be the Department of Defense’s AI transformation hub.

According to JAIC’s new director Lt. Gen. Michael Groen, the new phase is about moving away from being a product building unit and implement transformational change.

Groen was recently speaking during a webinar with the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

As reported by FedScoop, the JAIC will help the DOD and its many branches and components get AI-ready. “We will continue to do products … but we really want to create a tide that raises all boats,” FedScoop quoted Groen as saying.

In August this year, the Defense Information Systems Agency awarded a four-year $106 million award to design and build the Joint Common Foundation Artificial Intelligence development environment for the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center.
