jsPolicy Solves Understandability Problem Of Kubernetes Policy Solutions

During KubeCon EU 2021, Loft Labs open-sourced jsPolicy, a policy engine based on JavaScript. jsPolicy makes policies in Kubernetes clusters easier to manage and maintain, while also making them understandable and transparent. In the special edition of TFiR Let’s Talk, we sat down with Lukas Gentele, Co-Founder and CEO of Loft Labs, to learn more about their new open source project and what problem it’s trying to solve when there are already open source projects like OPA? Most existing policy agents for Kubernetes are designed for operators which creates some serious challenges for understandability. When a policy denies an action in a cluster, developers often get no insight into understanding what the policy is doing. jsPolicy bridges that gap by bringing one of the most popular technologies of the developer world – JavaScript – as a bridge between operators and developers.
