Back in September 2018, Microsoft Azure announced high-performance storage options with Ultra SSD Managed Disc, which according to Microsoft provides massive throughput with sub-millisecond latency for your most I/O demanding workloads.

This week Microsoft Azure has announced the general availability of Azure Ultra SSD. These new storage options allow customers to have granular control on the size, IOPS, and bandwidth of Ultra Disk Storage to meet their specific performance requirements.

You can go from 4GB all the way to 64TB with granular increments. Depending on your needs, you can dynamically configure and scale the IOPS and bandwidth on the disk independent of capacity.

“Ultra Disk Storage offers sizes ranging from 4 GiB up to 64 TiB with granular increments. In addition, it is possible to dynamically configure and scale the IOPS and bandwidth on the disk independent of capacity,” said Mark Russinovich Chief Technology Officer, Microsoft Azure.
