Microsoft has announced Azure Stack HCI solutions for customers who want to run virtualized applications on modern hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI).

Talking about the features, Azure Stack HCI solutions come equipped with the same Hyper-V based software-defined compute, storage, and networking software as Azure Stack. Furthermore, they can integrate with Azure for hybrid capabilities such as cloud-based backup, site recovery, monitoring, and more.

As Microsoft officials put it, Azure Stack HCI is “an evolution of Windows Server Software-Defined (WSSD) solutions previously available from our hardware partners.” It has now been added to the Azure Stack family as Microsoft has started to offer new options to connect with Azure for infrastructure management services.

Azure Stack HCI solutions support latest hardware technologies like NVMe drives, persistent memory, and remote-direct memory access (RDMA) networking, Microsoft added.

Microsoft also announced the availability of Azure Stack HCI solutions from 15 partners.
