Deepak Giridharagopal, CTO of Puppet, shares his predictions for 2021. According to Giridharagopal:

• Increase in automation to reduce the amount of manual toil. With the move to the cloud, and market uncertainties we say in 2020, more and more companies would want to automate things to take the pressure off their IT teams.
• 2021 will see a democratization of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and getting those skill sets in hands of more and more people. Once again 2020 showed us that we need people with skill sets that can automate things at a really high level of sophistication and excellence.
• The emergence of incident response 2.0, which will be an evolution of how people think about responding to the instance, which was more escalation. As applications are becoming more complex and sprawled out, it will be less about escalation and more about debugging and remediation process.
